Acura EV App Retired: How to Switch Your ZDX to AcuraLink

The Acura EV app has been retired for the ZDX, and owners now use the AcuraLink app with their existing Acura login. This guide covers the dates, the setup steps and which features to double-check.

Which app controls the Acura ZDX now?

The Acura EV app no longer works for the ZDX, so the app to use now is AcuraLink. Sign in to AcuraLink with the same Acura email and password you used in the Acura EV app.

The Acura EV app was made for the ZDX, Acura's electric SUV. Many dealer pages from 2024 still describe the Acura EV app as the current app, so advice you find online may be out of date.

Key dates for the switch

Acura moved ZDX owners from the Acura EV app to AcuraLink in three stages.

  • June 3, 2026: ZDX owners could start using the AcuraLink app.
  • June 3 through August 2, 2026: both the Acura EV app and AcuraLink worked.
  • From August 3, 2026: the Acura EV app is no longer available to ZDX owners. Acura's FAQ told owners to 'switch by August 3, 2026' to avoid any interruption in service.
  • Where the dates come from: Acura Canada's FAQ. The US App Store listing for the 'Acura EV - ZDX' app was updated August 3, 2026 with the same end-of-life notice and points owners to AcuraLink with the same login.

How to move your ZDX to AcuraLink

The move takes a few minutes, and you do not need a new account.

  • Install AcuraLink: download the free AcuraLink app from the App Store or Google Play.
  • Sign in: use the same Acura email and password you used in the Acura EV app. Your account and vehicle information carry over.
  • Check your car: confirm the ZDX shows up and that charging features and charging station locations appear.
  • Check missing features: if something you used before is gone, check your subscription status in your account in the AcuraLink app, because some services need an active plan.
  • Optional cleanup: delete the old 'Acura EV - ZDX' app, since it no longer works for the ZDX.

If your ZDX does not show up

If sign-in fails or your ZDX does not appear in AcuraLink, work through these steps in order.

  • Forgot your password: reset it from the AcuraLink sign-in screen.
  • Sign out and back in: this can refresh the vehicle list on your account.
  • Update the app: make sure you have the latest version of AcuraLink from the App Store or Google Play.
  • Check OnStar: confirm that OnStar is activated for your ZDX, since AcuraLink's connected services for the ZDX run through OnStar.
  • Ask Acura: call Acura Customer Relations at 1-855-335-5465, the number listed in Acura's ZDX FAQ, or contact your Acura dealer. Have your VIN ready.

What AcuraLink includes for the ZDX

The AcuraLink app is free to download, but some connected services may need an active subscription, depending on your vehicle and service plan. OnStar services you already had keep working in AcuraLink on their original terms.

Acura lists these AcuraLink features for the ZDX:

  • Charging features
  • Charging station locations
  • OnStar connected services
  • Roadside assistance phone number
  • Send Destination to Vehicle
  • Schedule Service, with availability depending on your dealer

Features that may not have carried over

The old Acura EV app offered remote lock and unlock, climate control, vehicle locate, charging status, battery level, remote stop-charge, nearby charging station availability, and EVgo charging credits with EVgo account linking. Acura's FAQ for AcuraLink lists 'charging features' but does not say whether remote lock and unlock, climate control or remote stop-charge made the move.

To check for yourself, sign in to AcuraLink and open the remote or vehicle controls area to see which commands appear for your ZDX. If one you rely on is missing, ask Acura Customer Relations which remote features AcuraLink supports for the ZDX.

AcuraLink version 5.5.0 removed the Geofence Alert, Speed Alert and Activity Log features for select vehicles. Acura does not say whether the ZDX is one of them.

EVgo credits are also unclear. An owner forum post quoting an Acura email says EVgo access is unchanged and can be viewed in AcuraLink, but Acura's official FAQ does not mention it.

Acura Canada says a new ZDX came with select OnStar services for a limited time, including up to 8 years of EV Access and 3 years of remote access through the Acura EV app. US terms may differ. The ZDX went on sale in 2024, so a 3-year trial would not run out before 2027. If remote features are missing now, an expired trial is an unlikely cause. Check that OnStar is activated and use the troubleshooting steps above first.

Using a third-party app with an Acura

Some independent apps connect to Acura cars through Smartcar, using your AcuraLink login. These apps do not replace AcuraLink. Your AcuraLink account and the official app keep working, and both read the same account.

CarConnect is one of these apps, and Acura is among the supported makes. It is an independent app from Loop Mobile FZCO and is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by any vehicle manufacturer. We have not confirmed that the ZDX works with it. A free in-app compatibility check shows exactly what your make, model and year supports, with no account and no card.

Every feature depends on the car's make, model and year. Depending on make, model and year, the app can read location, fuel level or EV charge and range, odometer and lock state. On supported vehicles, CarConnect can send five remote commands: lock, unlock, start charging, stop charging and set a charge limit between 50% and 100% (as of October 19, 2026).

  • Before you connect: your AcuraLink account must be active with data sharing allowed. Without it, the car connects but returns no data. A newly set-up account can take up to a couple of days before it works.
  • How sign-in works: you sign in with your AcuraLink login on Acura's own page through Smartcar, and the password stays with Acura.
  • What the app gets: a revocable token for that one vehicle.

Common questions

Do I need a new account for AcuraLink? No, use your existing Acura login.

Will my OnStar services keep working? Active OnStar services continue in AcuraLink on their original terms, including any end dates.

Is the ZDX still being made? No. Acura discontinued the ZDX in September 2025 and canceled all planned 2026 model-year units after talks with General Motors. Acura had planned an all-electric RSX built in Ohio, but Honda canceled it in March 2026 before production started, so the ZDX remains Acura's only EV.

My older Acura also lost AcuraLink features. Is that the same change? No. According to an Acura notice reported by Carscoops, AcuraLink services ended on July 21, 2025 for the 2015 to 2020 TLX, 2014 to 2020 MDX, 2014 to 2020 RLX, 2016 to 2018 RDX, 2016 to 2022 ILX and 2017 to 2022 NSX, a separate change.
