Parked Car Location: Find Where You Parked on iPhone and Android
Your phone often saves your parking spot on its own. Here is where to find it in Apple Maps and Google Maps, how to pin it yourself, and what to check when nothing was saved.
How to find your parked car location
On iPhone, open Apple Maps and search "Parked Car". On Android, open Google Maps, tap the search bar and choose "Parking location".
If your phone didn't save a spot, a car with connected services can show its own last reported position in the carmaker's app.
- Apple Maps on iPhone: drops a Parked Car marker on its own when your iPhone disconnects from the car's Bluetooth or CarPlay.
- Google Maps on Android: plan on saving the spot yourself. Google's Android help only covers saving by hand, plus a button in Android Auto when you arrive.
- Google Maps on iPhone: can save the spot on its own once you turn it on, or you can save it by hand.
- The car itself: with connected services, the carmaker's app shows the car's last reported position, even if your phone never saved anything.
Find your parked car on iPhone with Apple Maps
Location Services, Significant Locations and Bluetooth all have to be on. Maps drops the marker when you disconnect your iPhone from the car's Bluetooth or CarPlay and get out of the vehicle.
To find the car, open Maps and search "Parked Car". You can also tap the Search field on your Home Screen and choose Parked Car under Siri Suggestions. Then tap Directions. If you open the Parked Car result, you can edit the location or add a note, such as the parking level. In a parking garage, adding the level and row as a note helps, since a map pin can't show which floor you're on.
To set it up, turn these on:
- Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services.
- Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services › System Services › Significant Locations (it may be called Significant Locations & Routes).
- Settings › Apps › Maps (on iOS 17 or earlier, Settings › Maps), then scroll to Show Parked Location.
- Settings › Notifications › Maps › Allow Notifications, if you want parked car alerts.
Why the Parked Car marker is missing
If Maps shows no Parked Car result, check these.
To get rid of an old marker, touch and hold it, then tap Remove Car. If you never want markers, turn off Show Parked Location.
- No connection on that drive: the marker only drops when the iPhone disconnects from the car's Bluetooth or CarPlay. If the phone never connected on that trip, there is nothing to mark.
- Your car's Bluetooth isn't marked as a car: go to Settings › Bluetooth, tap the ⓘ next to your car, then set Device Type to Car Stereo.
- A setting is off: recheck Location Services, Significant Locations and Show Parked Location from the list above.
- You parked somewhere familiar: Apple says that if you park at a familiar location, such as home or work, Maps doesn't mark it as parked.
- Someone else drove the car: the marker shows where your phone left the car, so it won't follow the car if another person moved it.
Pin your car location with Google Maps
Google Maps lets you save your parking spot yourself, which helps if your car has no Bluetooth or CarPlay. On Android, tap the blue location dot, then tap Save your parking. The spot stays saved until you remove it.
To find it later on Android, tap the search bar, choose Parking location, then tap Directions at the bottom. Under More info you can add a note or photo, such as the floor or how much meter time is left, or share the spot. Tap Clear when you're back at the car.
On iPhone, tap the blue dot, then Saved parking. That spot lasts 48 hours, unless you remove it or start driving. The pin shows as You parked here. To have Google Maps on iPhone save the spot for you, follow these steps.
- Step 1: in Google Maps, tap your profile picture, then Settings › Navigation, and turn on Automatically save parking.
- Step 2: to save through Bluetooth, pair your phone with the car and set the car's audio source to Bluetooth. It can also save through CarPlay or USB.
- Step 3: if you don't use Bluetooth, tap Let maps use your motion to save your parking on the same screen.
- Step 4: in your iPhone's Settings app, go to Google Maps › Location and choose Always.
- Step 5: for parking alerts, in Google Maps tap your profile picture › Settings › Notifications › Getting around, then turn Parking location on.
- Android Auto: when you arrive at a destination you navigated to, Google Maps may show a Save parking location button on the car screen. Tap it to save the spot.
Nothing saved? Check where your last drive ended
If neither app has a pin, your phone's location history may still help. If Google Maps Timeline is turned on, open Google Maps, tap your profile picture, then Your Timeline, and look at where your last drive ended. That is usually where you parked. Google now keeps Timeline on your phone.
On iPhone with iOS 26 or later, Visited Places in Apple Maps (Maps › Places › Visited Places) can help the same way. It records places you visit and doesn't mark parking spots, and it isn't available everywhere.
If that doesn't help, or someone else drove the car, check the car's own app.
Check the last parked location from the car itself
Phone pins only know where your phone was. A car with a modem and an active connected-services account can report its own position, and carmaker apps can show that last reported location.
In the Ford app, go to the Vehicle screen and tap Vehicle Location. This works for a modem-equipped car that you've added to the app and activated, with location services turned on on your phone. It shows the last detected address with the date and time it was last updated, and you can pull down to refresh. Ford turns off Vehicle Location while the car is moving.
Toyota's app lists Last Parked Location as part of Remote Connect. Check your owner's manual for what your model supports. Some carmakers, including Toyota, charge for connected services after a trial period, so check your plan.
Another app that shows where your car reported
CarConnect works with 45+ car makes on iPhone and Android. It shows where your car is on a map using the position the car's own built-in telematics reports, so you don't need an AirTag, an OBD dongle or any other hardware in the car.
You see where the car is wherever the car itself reports from. Your phone doesn't have to be near it, so you can check from an airport gate or another city. The app shows the car's current reported position and keeps no history of past spots.
- What it shows: in the app, each car's page shows its street address next to the map pin (it says Locating… while the address is being looked up). Tap Find to open directions in Apple Maps or Google Maps, or copy the coordinates to share or paste anywhere.
- How fresh it is: location is refreshed when the app opens or comes back to the foreground. It is only as fresh as the car's last report, and how often that happens varies by carmaker. If the car hasn't reported a position, the app says Location unavailable.
- What you need first: location, like every feature, depends on your car's make, model and year and on an active connected-services account with the carmaker, which you need first. The app does not replace that account. Run the free in-app compatibility check to confirm your car.
Common questions
Can I see a history of where I parked? Apple Maps keeps no parking log, and Ford says its app has no location history. Visited Places in Apple Maps (iOS 26 and later) records places you visit. It is end-to-end encrypted and syncs across your devices. In Maps, tap Places › Visited Places › Keep Visits to choose how long to keep them, or choose Forever.
Why doesn't my iPhone mark my car at home? Apple says that if you park at a familiar location, such as home or work, Maps doesn't mark it as parked.
How long does a Google Maps saved spot last? On iPhone, 48 hours unless you remove it or start driving. On Android, a spot you save by hand stays until you remove it.
What if someone moved or stole my car? Your phone's pin will still show the old spot. The carmaker's app shows where the car itself last reported, which doesn't depend on your phone. If you think the car was stolen, call the police. Ford says it can't track stolen vehicles.
