Jeep Connect: What's Free for 2027 and How to Enroll
Jeep Connect is the service behind the Jeep app's remote start, lock and unlock, health reports and SOS calls. Here is what's included on 2027 Jeeps, what older Jeeps need and how to enroll.
What Jeep Connect is
Jeep Connect is the service that lets the free Jeep app remote start, lock and unlock your Jeep, send vehicle health reports and make SOS calls. On most 2027 Jeeps the basic plan, Connect One, is included for 10 years once you enroll, while older Jeeps may need a paid plan to use the app's remote features.
Jeep Connect is run by Stellantis, the company that owns Jeep. The Jeep app is available for iPhone and Android. To use its remote features, your Jeep has to be equipped for them and you need an active connected-services subscription.
Jeep has used a few different systems over the years, so what you get depends on your Jeep's model and year. The sections below explain the plans and how to find out which one your Jeep has.
What's included on 2027 Jeeps
On July 16, 2026, Stellantis announced that most 2027 US Jeep models get 10 years of Connect One at no extra cost. The same change covers most 2027 Chrysler, Dodge, Ram, FIAT and Alfa Romeo models.
Remote engine start and stop is now part of Connect One. It works through the Jeep app with no separate monthly subscription. You still have to enroll, and Mopar Insiders reports that the 10 years run from enrollment.
Connect One on 2027 models includes:
- Remote controls: remote engine start and stop, and remote lock and unlock
- Vehicle care: monthly vehicle health reports, vehicle health and recall alerts, and service scheduling
- Safety: automatic SOS calls
- Software: over-the-air software updates
- Privacy: remote clearing of personal data
- Extras: in-vehicle games through the App Market
Connect One, Connect Wi-Fi Plus and SiriusXM Guardian
These names cause most of the confusion. Connect One is the included plan. Connect Wi-Fi Plus is an optional paid add-on with a monthly fee. SiriusXM Guardian is a separate, older platform that some Jeeps still use.
Connect Wi-Fi Plus may come with a free trial. Check the Uconnect pricing page at driveuconnect.com for the current price and terms before you sign up.
- Connect One: included at no extra cost for 10 years on most 2027 Jeeps once you enroll. Covers remote start and stop, lock and unlock, health reports, recall alerts, SOS calls and the other features listed above.
- Connect Wi-Fi Plus: a paid monthly add-on. Stellantis says it adds unlimited hotspot data for up to eight devices, remote horn and flashing lights, stolen vehicle assistance, theft alarm alerts, a vehicle finder and connected navigation.
- Grand Wagoneer and Wagoneer S (2027): Stellantis says these get 10 years of Connect One plus three years of Connect Plus at no extra charge. Connect Plus is the name Stellantis uses for these two models, so ask your dealer what it includes. Unlimited Wi-Fi data is sold separately.
- Compass (2027): stays on SiriusXM Guardian, so it does not get Connect One or the free remote start that comes with it. Stellantis says it gets 10 years of Safety and Security and Vehicle Performance services, plus trials of the Assistance and Navigation packages and a data trial. After the data trial ends, you can buy more data from AT&T.
Older Jeeps and how to tell which system you have
Stellantis's announcement only covers 2027 models. It has not been confirmed whether older Jeeps already on Jeep Connect will get free remote start too.
Many older Jeeps use Uconnect Access or SiriusXM Guardian instead of Jeep Connect. On any Jeep, the app's remote features need an active subscription to Jeep Connect, SiriusXM Guardian or Uconnect Access. On a Guardian vehicle, that means an active SiriusXM Guardian subscription. Plans and prices for older Jeeps vary, so check the Uconnect pricing page, connect.jeep.com or your dealer for what your plan costs today.
Jeep doesn't publish an easy model-by-model list that we could find, but these checks will point you in the right direction:
- In the car: on the Uconnect touchscreen, open Apps and look for Activate Services or Uconnect Registration. These are the activation options Mopar describes.
- In the Jeep app: add your Jeep by its VIN. If the remote buttons don't work, your Jeep needs an active Jeep Connect, SiriusXM Guardian or Uconnect Access subscription.
- Most 2027 Jeeps: Jeep Connect with Connect One
- 2027 Compass: SiriusXM Guardian
- Grand Cherokee: Mopar lists Jeep Connect as available on the 2021 Grand Cherokee L and select 2022 Grand Cherokee models
- Still unsure: ask your dealer or check connect.jeep.com
How to enroll
Connect One does not switch on by itself. You have to enroll, and you can do it from the car, with a Customer Care agent, at the dealer or online. Mopar's activation guide also covers setting up a Security PIN, which you may need for remote commands.
- From the touchscreen: select Apps on the Uconnect screen, tap Activate Services, then enter your mobile number. You will get a text with an enrollment link. Menu names can vary by Uconnect version. If you don't see Activate Services, look for Uconnect Registration, which offers a Register by Web option.
- With an agent: first press the Assist button (on the rearview mirror or overhead console, depending on your Jeep). Next, press the activate button on the touchscreen, then choose Customer Care. An agent will finish the activation for you.
- At the dealer: the dealership that sold you the vehicle can enroll you in Connect One and help you manage Connect Wi-Fi Plus.
- Online: you can enroll and manage your plan at connect.jeep.com, the site Uconnect's pricing page points Jeep owners to.
Setting up the Jeep app and fixing remote buttons
Once you are enrolled, install the free Jeep app from the App Store or Google Play and sign in with the same account you used to enroll.
On an equipped Jeep with an active subscription, the app can start or stop the engine, lock or unlock the doors, and sound the horn or flash the lights. On Connect One vehicles, horn and lights are part of the paid Connect Wi-Fi Plus add-on. The app also includes My Dealer, My Garage with a digital glovebox, and recall alerts.
If the remote buttons do nothing, work through these checks:
- Subscription: make sure your Jeep Connect, SiriusXM Guardian or Uconnect Access subscription is active.
- Equipment: check that your Jeep is equipped for the feature you are trying to use.
- Plan: on Connect One Jeeps, horn and lights need Connect Wi-Fi Plus.
- Account: sign in to the app with the same account you used to enroll.
- PIN: have your Security PIN handy in case the app asks for it.
- Timing: if you just activated, wait a while and try again.
Using Jeep Connect with other apps
CarConnect supports Jeep through Smartcar, the service it uses to link to cars. It works through your connected-services account with Jeep and does not replace it, so you need an active account first. Without one, the car can connect but no live data comes through.
Which features you get depends on your car's make, model and year and on an active connected-services account with the carmaker. A free in-app compatibility check shows what your make, model and year supports, with no account and no card needed.
- Step 1: the app asks you to activate Jeep Connect in the Jeep app. If your Jeep uses SiriusXM Guardian or Uconnect Access, make sure that subscription is active instead.
- Step 2: sign in with the same login you use in the Jeep app, not the account you made for our app. The link goes through Smartcar.
- Step 3: if data doesn't appear right after you activate, wait a while and try again.
Common questions
Is Jeep Connect free? On most 2027 Jeeps, the Connect One plan is included at no extra cost for 10 years once you enroll. Connect Wi-Fi Plus is an optional add-on with a monthly fee.
Do I need a subscription for remote start? On most 2027 Jeeps, remote start is part of Connect One, so there is no separate monthly fee once you enroll. On other Jeeps, the app's remote features need an active Jeep Connect, SiriusXM Guardian or Uconnect Access subscription.
What does Jeep Connect cost on my older Jeep? Stellantis's announcement only covers 2027 models, and plans for older Jeeps vary. Check your current plan in the Jeep app, on connect.jeep.com or with your dealer.
Why does my 2027 Compass not show Connect One? The 2027 Compass uses SiriusXM Guardian, so the free remote start included with Connect One does not apply. App remote features on Guardian vehicles need an active SiriusXM Guardian subscription. Check with your dealer for the services included with your Compass.
