CarConnect feature

Every Car You Own, on One Screen

If you own cars from two different manufacturers, a Lexus and a Mazda in the same driveway or a Volkswagen and a Volvo, CarConnect puts both of them in one list on your phone. Each car is linked through its own manufacturer account, and from then on they share a single screen: where each one is, how much fuel or charge it has, whether it is locked, and what the odometer says.

The garage view: every car, one list

Open CarConnect and your vehicles are stacked one after another, each with its own card. A card shows the car's position on the map, fuel level or EV charge with remaining range, live lock status, and the current odometer reading. The Lexus sitting in the driveway and the Mazda parked three blocks from the office both report in the same place, so a morning check takes one scroll instead of two apps and two logins.

Tap a card and you get the full picture for that vehicle: tire pressure, engine oil life, and VIN and vehicle information. Commands live on the same screen. Lock, unlock, open the trunk, and start or stop charging on supported EVs, sent only when you tap them.

Each car is linked through its own manufacturer account

A Volkswagen is added with Volkswagen credentials and a Volvo with Volvo credentials. CarConnect connects through Smartcar, the connected-car platform, and the sign-in happens on the carmaker's own login page. CarConnect never sees or stores your manufacturer password. What it receives is a revocable access token for that one vehicle.

Because every car carries its own token, they stay independent. Sell the Volvo on a Saturday and unlink it that afternoon: its token is revoked, its card disappears, and the Volkswagen is untouched and still reporting. Adding a third car later works the same way, through that manufacturer's login, without disturbing the two already in the list.

Add a car once and it stays

A weekend car that sits for three weeks is still on the screen when you come back to it. Before you walk out to the garage you can see the charge level or fuel, read the current odometer, and check that the doors are locked. Plug in or top up ahead of a Saturday drive, with the state of the car already on your phone before you pick up the keys.

The same is true for a household's second car. A parent can see where the family car is parked, whether it came back locked, and how much fuel is in it before someone leaves on a long drive, all from the same list that holds their own vehicle.

Three vehicles, three badges, one morning check

A small business with a van, a pickup and a car rarely buys them all from the same manufacturer. CarConnect supports 46 makes, so a mixed set lands in one list rather than three separate carmaker apps. At the start of the day you can see where each vehicle is, which one needs fuel before it goes out, and what each odometer reads for mileage logging and service intervals.

At the end of a job, lock status tells you the pickup was actually locked when the crew walked away, and a remote unlock lets someone collect a tool from the van without a second key run across town. There is nothing to install in any of the three vehicles: no OBD dongle, no adapter, no tracker to fit. CarConnect reads the factory telematics module each car already has.

Check both cars before you pay

The free in-app compatibility check shows exactly what your make, model and year supports. No account, no card. Run it once for the Lexus and once for the Mazda, see what each one reports and which commands each one accepts, then decide. CarConnect covers 46 makes, from Acura, Audi and BMW to Subaru, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo.

CarConnect is on iOS and Android, rated 4.7 from 1,300+ ratings on the App Store with 5,000+ installs on Google Play. FAQ

Good questions

Is there an app that shows two cars from different brands in one place?

Yes. CarConnect is built around a multi-car garage. Add a Lexus and a Mazda, or a Volkswagen and a Volvo, and both appear in the same list with location, fuel or charge, lock state and odometer for each. CarConnect supports 46 makes, so the two cars do not need to share a manufacturer.

How do I add a second car?

You add it the same way as the first: pick the make, sign in on that manufacturer's own login page, and the car joins your list. Each new vehicle uses its own manufacturer account, so adding one leaves the cars already linked exactly as they were.

Can I remove one car and keep the other?

Yes. Unlinking is per vehicle. Removing a car revokes the access token for that car only, and every other vehicle in your list keeps reporting exactly as before. This is what you do when you sell a car or hand back a lease.

Do I need a dongle or tracker in each car?

No. CarConnect uses the factory telematics module that is already in each vehicle, the same hardware the manufacturer's own app talks to. Nothing is plugged in, nothing is installed, and nothing needs charging in any of your cars.

Does it work if one car is electric and the other runs on gas?

Yes. The garage view shows fuel level for a gas car and battery charge with remaining range for an EV, side by side in the same list. On supported EVs you can also start or stop charging from the app.

Will my cars still be there if I do not open the app for weeks?

Yes. A car is added once and stays linked. A weekend car that sits for a month is on the screen when you come back, showing its current charge or fuel, odometer and lock status.

How do I know what my own cars support?

The free in-app compatibility check shows exactly what your make, model and year supports. It takes no account and no card, and you can run it for each car you own before you decide anything.
